Lawrence Siegel is a composer, conductor, theater artist, scholar, and performer. kaddish composer lawrence siegelHe holds a Doctorate in Music Theory and Composition from Brandeis University, and was a fellow in composition at the Tanglewood Music Center and three times at the MacDowell Colony. From 1999-2010, he was composer-in-residence at the Eugene O'Neill National Puppetry Conference in Waterford, Connecticut.

Lawrence Siegel's compositions have received numerous awards and critical praise, including awards from the McKnight Foundation, the New England Foundation for the Arts and Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation. A three-time recipient of Artist Fellowships from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, he was inducted as a Lifetime Fellow in 2013.

His compositions have been characterized as unabashedly tonal and Schumann-like in their passion, melding influences of modernism, traditional music, and musical theater.

Siegel has lived in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire since 1987, where he has explored a remarkable vision of collaborative art making. As founder and artistic director of Tricinium, a performing arts producing organization, Larry brings his unique Verbatim Project to communities and organizations around the world. For over 25 years, he has facilitated residencies to create and perform original music-theater pieces that speak to people's own lives and experience. These collaborative works include junior high and high school meditations on society; workshops for teachers and college students; a celebration of The New Hampshire Character for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's 40th Anniversary; and community residencies sponsored by ad hoc groups of local citizens. Siegel is currently developing Portraits, a series of cabaret-operas that tell real-life stories of individuals and their relationships in the fullness of life.
